8 Most Talked About Celebrity Weddings Of All Time

Over a decade later, and long after many of the marriages have ended, there are some celebrity weddings that are just ingrained in our memory. They’re the ones that truly set the trends, or were just so different that they still make their way into a conversation.

From The Royal Wedding to the numerous weddings of Britney Spears, we have a whole list of weddings to talk about. And don’t get us wrong, we love a fancy celebrity wedding….even if it doesn’t work out.

Here, your unofficial ranking of the most talked about celebrity weddings:

1. Lady Diana Spencer and Prince Charles (1981)

Seven-hundred-fifty-million people tuned in to watch these two ties the knot. It’s hard to choose just one famous moment of the event; the dress, the tiara. But we can never forget the ring: an 18-carat oval sapphire that would ultimately be worn on Kate Middleton’s finger 30 years later. Princess Diana looked beautiful and it’s safe to say there’s no other royal bride who comes close to her.

2. Victoria Adams and David Beckham (1999)

The frosted tips, the $17,000 tiara, the $100,000 Vera Wang gown, not to mention the matching purple reception outfits: Everything about this wedding was completely silly and completely outrageous, but guess who’s still married? Not to forget, they have the most adorable kids.

3. Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise (2006)

A year after making a trampoline out of Oprah’s couch, Cruise married Holmes in a lavish ceremony in Italy, outfitted by Armani. After the ceremony, they headed to the reception, where Andrea Bocelli serenaded them before they left at 5 a.m. for a honeymoon in the Maldives. It really broke our heart when they split up. But oh well, it was good till it lasted.

4. Amal Alamuddin and George Clooney (2014)

Clooney married the girl of his dreams—and ours. The human-rights lawyer wore a custom Oscar de la Renta gown on the big day, and practically the most perfectly tailored outfits in the world in the days leading up to the event. We’re just a little sad we can’t marry her ourselves.

5. Kim Kardashian and Kanye West (2014)

The couple’s wedding photo is one of the most-liked photo on Instagram ever. The accolade could be due to the Givenchy gown, the Chris McMillan blowout, the flower wall—or the fact that West Photoshopped it for four days before finally agreeing to post it. Either way, we totally dig the couple and we’re glad that Kim found the one!

6. Ellen DeGeneres and Portia De Rossi (2008)

We obviously love a wedding that goes all out, but sometimes it’s the small weddings that grab our hearts. That was definitely the case with Ellen DeGeneres and Portia De Rossi 2008 nuptials. The couple announced their engagement the day after same-sex marriage was legalized in California and were married in a private ceremony at their Beverly Hills home. They’re the cutest ya’ll, end of story.

7. Chrissy Teigen and John Legend (2013)

This couple is always relationship goals, and their wedding was no exception. In three separate Vera Wang custom dresses, Teigen married her love in an Italian ceremony complete with a layered carrot cake and performance from Stevie Wonder. Can we just acknowledge the fact that their kids are super adorable?

8. Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston (2000)

Aniston’s appearance on this list is for her $1 million wedding to Brad Pitt in 2000. Overlooking the Pacific Ocean on a Malibu estate, the couple spared no expense when it comes to security, flowers, and evening fireworks show.

We all know how this turned out, but regardless, Aniston in a beachy blowout and Lawrence Steele gown, and Pitt in a Hedi Slimane tux made for one of the loveliest wedding photos of all time.

Some of these worked out, while some didn’t. But we shall always remember them as the most talked about celebrity weddings!
