Brutal and amazing combat

All footage from the gameplay demo only available to a few at the e3 show floor during the event, clearly show the people what sort of game this is going to be. A true souls-like game from the souls-like franchise creators themselves. If you know about the game Darksouls and it’s brutal and unforgiving nature, then you should also be warned, this game will be a challenge just like it!

An unforgiving and dangerous world, with hostile environments and traps lurking behind every corner… A world where even the seemingly weakest enemy will slaughter you if you are not careful. Yes! This is the sort of challenging world all the souls-like games exist in. And expect Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice to also follow in the path of it’s predecessors.

You will be challenged every step of the way, and the gripping excitement of having an all out battle every other minute will leave you dying for more! Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice actually even builds upon the core gameplay of the previous Darksouls games. Darksouls but with ninjas! Yet what does this truly mean? Well for one… Ariel movement! Zipping around with grappling hooks, being tossed high into the air by a dangerous enemy… You can expect these sorts of things from the new game. This added level of vertical movement during combat and simple exploration will make you feel like a real ninja. How awesome!

Clues in the title – Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

The word Sekiro is actually a play on another Japanese word, which actually means “a person who is missing a limb”. This is quite interesting when you thing about how the main character is also missing a limb. Moreover, ‘Shadows’ is another word in the Japanese culture that is used to describe shinobi, or Ninjas. This is certainly important to note, for this is a game containing alot of samurai and ninja influences. Expect some stealth elements in this game! Although this won’t be a completely sneaking around focused game, you will certainly need to stay hidden and think of creative solutions at times. Sounds fun!

Finally the ‘Die Twice’ part alludes to an interesting mechanic of the game where you actually have two lives instead of one before you will be sent to the last checkpoint. It’s still too early to say how this mechanic will play out in the game itself, but it does sound interesting. Maybe some creative game mechanics will be made revolving around the fact that you need to die twice to active some switch or defeat a particular enemy. The possibilities are endless!

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

Does Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice make you hyped? Some fans are skeptical about the theme and setting of the new game, but a well executed ninja game will be loads of fun! Especially when handled by a company like From Software. I have no doubt that Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice will be just as good, if not better, than the other games from the legendary studio.
