The end of Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson?

This weekend, TMZ broke the utterly heartbreaking news that Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson had called off their engagement. For some, it was nearly impossible to believe the famous Instagram couple has broken up.

We are still struggling to figure out what went wrong between the two. The news of their break up has been spreading like wildfire on the internet, but there have been no comments from either side.

Looking back at their relationship, there were definitely signs that things weren’t going great for the couple for a few weeks now.

To help make sense of this upsetting news, here are all of the signs that predicted the end of Ari and Pete’s engagement:

1. They got engaged after three weeks

We know love is crazy and there’s no hard set rule as to when is the right time to propose, but Ariana and Pete throwing a ring on it just three weeks after they began dating did seem a little quick.

The fast engagement was also emphasized by the fact that both Ari and Pete exited their previous long-term relationships just weeks before the two got together.

It’s possible that this quick turnaround left both Ariana and Pete with a lot of unresolved issues from their previous relationships, issues that may have manifested themselves in their own engagement.

2. Mac Miller’s death

Just a few months after Ariana and Mac broke up, the rapper died of an apparent overdose. Of course, this really upset Ariana who knew about Mac’s struggle with substance abuse. While she didn’t blame herself for his death, according to TMZ, the news caused Ari to really think about her relationship with Pete. She realized she wasn’t fully invested in Pete and that the two had gotten engaged way too fast. It’s possible that Mac’s death is when the cracks really started to form between Ari and Pete.

3. Bad timing

“Ariana made the final decision,” as a source told ET. Of course, Pete is extremely upset about the decision. “Pete is incredibly heartbroken. Pete is still is so in love with her. He wanted his whole world to revolve around her but she was emotionally unavailable. He realizes she was at her limit with pressure from everyone and everything around her.”

The split came due to bad timing, probably having to do with Mac’s death, among other things. “They got engaged because they both felt this instant connection and even now after their split they are still deeply in love,” the source continued. “But their timing has truly affected their plans and made it impossible for them to make it work at the moment.”

Do you think Ariana and Pete will get back together?

When the story broke, TMZ reported that they ended their relationship *and* they called off their engagement, but at the very end of the article it said that there was a possibility this could change in the future.

“Our source says while things may be done for the couple, for now, the two aren’t ruling out the possibility of anything in the future,” the outlet wrote.

In conclusion…

Ariana and Pete have had a brutal few months. She’s been coping with the passing of ex Mac Miller, and he’s been adjusting to sudden mega-fame. My opinion? I don’t think they’re getting back together. Sorry guys, but you’ll have to bury the insta-famous couple in good memories….and memes.
